Protecting the Future: Highlights from Our Quarterly Convening on Child Trafficking

Yesterday we hosted our Quarterly Convening focused on the anti-trafficking “P” of Protection, with a special emphasis on protecting children. This gathering brought together advocates, policymakers, and experts dedicated to safeguarding vulnerable young lives.

We were honored to have UK Anti-Slavery Commissioner Eleanor Lyons lead our discussion as our featured speaker. Commissioner Lyons shared some sobering statistics: 44% of those in the UK National Referral Mechanism (NRM) had been exploited as children. Additionally, 447 children went missing between 2021 and 2023 in the UK, and in the US, it has been reported that 85,000 children are missing in approximately the same time frame from the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) alone. During the convening, a legislative solution that could impact many of these missing children was discussed and shared. We are hopeful that this will be implemented in nations throughout the world to better protect vulnerable children.

Together, we can create a safer world for our children. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this crucial conversation.
